Loneliness

Many people suffer from loneliness which can become very severe and lead to even worse problems such as depression.
There is nothing better for loneliness than getting friends together to have a game of cards. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the game itself but the socialization aspect.
If one is feeling blue, hearing the problems others are having and managing, often puts worries into perspective. You might find that you are coping quite well. You may find opportunities to ask for advice with one of your concerns. Even if the advice given is not something that you take, just putting a problem into words lightens one’s load and helps one to see things more clearly. With the distraction of the game, no discussion is too heavy or too long.
A games night is also an opportunity to share a few laughs. Being able to chuckle at the mundane, silly jokes or antics of others just makes one feel better because it releases endorphins, the feel-good hormones. Whether one wins or loses the game being played, one still leaves the party a winner.
Besides: there is always the opportunity for a rematch in the future. Now that’s positive planning with something to look forward to!
A games night is just long enough to break boredom, reconnect with the world, share problems, get a bit of advice and share a few laughs. With a little luck, there may be some snacks to share, too.
