Emotion Focused Therapy in Edmonton, St. Albert & Leduc
What Is Emotion Focused Therapy?
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on healing emotional wounds and creating stronger relationships. EFT is popular in couples work but has been shown to be helpful for family therapy as well as for individual therapy. In EFT, clients learn how to recognize emotional reactions, explore where those reactions may be coming from and break negative patterns/reactions based on those emotions. Your therapist will also work with you on processing those emotions in a healthy and healing way.
What Can Emotion Focused Therapy Help With?
In general, EFT can be helpful in helping you recognize and communicate your feelings and allow them to move through you and instead of getting “stuck”. EFT has been found to be an effective treatment for:
Trauma (including physical, sexual or emotional abuse and domestic violence)
