A Note From Jill

I strive to create a space of non-judgement, warmth, and trust for you to feel safe to show up as your most authentic self. Tending towards a relationship-focused approach to counselling, my goal is to meet my clients right where they are at. I understand life can be messy, uncomfortable, and uncertain, and sometimes we just need someone to sit in it with us. Other times we may be ready get up and go but need some help finding the way. I use attachment, cognitive-behavioural, emotion-focused, mindfulness, narrative, person-centred, and strengths-based theories and interventions to co-create a path towards greater self-understanding, meaningful growth, and lasting change.

As a counselling therapist, I have experience supporting children, teens, young adults, and parents with concerns including anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), burnout, depression, emotional regulation, grief and loss, neurodiversity, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OBD), social difficulties, self-harm, suicide, traumatic stress, and more. My previous experience supporting the cognitive and social-emotional development of neurodiverse children across environments has led to a deep understanding for the unique challenges faced by young individuals and their families. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology with a minor in Early Childhood Education. Additionally, I have completed trainings in attachment-centered play-therapy, crisis de-escalation, suicide intervention and prevention, grief and trauma recovery, and treatment of anxiety-related disorders. While my education offers a strong foundation in mental health and human development, I attribute my most meaningful learning to a few important relationships and experiences of human-to-human interaction.

When I'm not in the office or studying I'm most likely getting up to something creative - I love painting, thrifting, DIY-ing, and really anything crafty or design-based! A few of my favourite feel-good things include listening to music, comedy podcasts, good coffee, slow mornings, and sunny days.

“People need love more than they need advice. Most people know the right thing to do, they just need someone to believe in them.” — Lex Fridman
